DO WE WANT TO BE RESURRECTED BLIND ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT?

Allah says in the Noble Qur’an, Surah Taha, verse 14:

“…and establish salah (prayer) for My remembrance.”

We are servants of Allah and we need Allah at all times, in every situation. We need guidance and direction from Allah to perform acts of worship such as seeking sustenance, gaining knowledge, solving problems and whatever trials we go through in this life. It is in salah (prayer) that we can focus on remembering Allah and express all our feelings to Him. We can ask for any kind of help we want in prayer. Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 152-153:

“So remember Me, I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and do not be ungrateful to Me. O you who believe! Seek help (from Allah) through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”

If we remember Allah through making dhikr (remembrance) or salah, Allah promises to remember us. Allah will protect us and increase the guidance that we need to go through the test of this life. Thus, every matter of our life will be made easy compared to those who do not pray and do not remember Allah. Allah says in Surah Taha, verses 124-126 about those who do not remember Allah and turn away from His guidance:

“And whoever turns away from My reminder, then indeed he will live a depressed and difficult life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind. He will say: ‘My Lord, why have You gathered me blind, while I used to be able to see.’ Allah says: ‘Thus, Our signs came to you, but you forgot and abandoned them, and so this Day you are forgotten and abandoned.’”

Let us not be blinded by the games of this world from remembering Allah and following His guidance. This worldly life is nothing but play and entertainment as Allah says in Surah Al-Hadid, verse 20:

“Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement and adornment and boasting to one another, and competition in increase of wealth and children, as the likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller; afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes (scattered) debris. But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment (for the disbelievers, evil-doers), and (there is) Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the believers, good-doers), whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment.”

Establish prayer and always make your dhikr of Allah because we need both to save us in the Hereafter. Do not be deceived in this world by following the footsteps of Satan. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (may Allah send Blessings and Peace upon him) said:

“And I command you to remember Allah, indeed the example of the one who remembers Allah is like a man who is being pursued by his enemies until he comes to an impenetrable fortress, where he protects himself from them. In the same way, a servant will not protect himself against Satan except by the dhikr of Allah.” [Jami’ at-Tirmidhi (2863)]

Thus, it is very important for us to remember Allah at all times to prevent the whisperings of Satan.

There is a du‘aa (supplication) to help us in remembering Allah at all times taught by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to one of his companions. This following du‘aa is to be recited after every prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ.‏

ALLAAHUMMA A‘INNEE ‘ALAA DZIKKRIKA WASHUKKRIKA WAHUSNI ‘IBAADATIKA.

Meaning:
O Allah, help me in remembering You, in giving You thanks, and worshipping You in the best manner. [Sunan Abi Dawud (1522)]

I conclude with the words of Allah in Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 45:

“Recite and follow what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur’an), and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prevents from immorality (shameful) and evil deeds; and indeed, the remembrance of Allah (in prayer) is greater (in its priority and benefits from other acts of worship); and Allah is aware of what you do.”
