Allah says:
“Indeed We, it is We, Who have sent down Adh-Dhikr and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).” [The Noble Qur’an, Surah Al-Hijr, 15:9]
Most of the scholars interpret that this verse means Allah will only preserve Al-Qur’an from corruption. The word Adh-Dhikr in this verse not only can be interpreted as Al-Qur’an but it can also mean all the knowledge He has revealed to our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (may Allah send Blessings and Peace upon him). This means that Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah, and any knowledge derived from these two sources that has been passed down from the generation of as-Salafus-Salih up till now, in the form of book, have been preserved.
The knowledge based on Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah has been preserved in the works of scholars who follow the Manhaj of Salaf, such as Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Sahih al-Bukhari, Riyadhus-Saliheen, and Majmoo’ al-Fatawa, for a period ranging from about three to twelve centuries. This asserts that other than Al-Qur’an, these books, as well as other books written by scholars who follow the understanding of as-Salafus-Salih, can also be considered Adh-Dhikr.
Unlike Adh-Dhikr found in the form of books, Adh-Dhikr published through websites by those who adhere to the Manhaj of Salaf will also be preserved up till the time Allah wills that it ceases to exist.
Preservation of Adh-Dhikr implies safeguarding against loss or corruption for as long as Allah wills until it will be taken away from this world. This highlights the miracle of its preservation in Islam. Unlike other religious traditions where sacred texts have been altered, Al-Qur’an, As-Sunnah, and their associated sciences have been safeguarded. Are you not amazed at how Allah has preserved this knowledge, Adh-Dhikr, for centuries, fulfilling His promise which is stated in the Noble Qur’an?
