Most of the scholars are of the view that this applies only to the dates of Madinah, and specifically to a particular type of the dates of Madinah, namely ‘Ajwah (عجوة) dates. This is most likely to be correct, and it is the apparent meaning of the hadith.
The most precious type of ‘Ajwah dates is known as ‘Ajwah Al-‘Aliyah, which is grown on higher land near the outskirts of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, near the Quba’ mosque. They have been cultivated for over 1,400 years, ensuring top-notch quality and flavour. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (may Allah send Blessings and Peace upon him) specifically mentioned this type of date in a hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim (2048):
“Indeed, in ‘Ajwah Al-‘Aliyah dates contain healing effects, and indeed, these are antidote in the early morning.”
