Social media makes it easy for people to compare themselves to others, leading to feelings of envy and resentment, which can cause the evil eye. Sharing personal experiences and photos on social media may increase the potential for negative energy to be directed at an individual. Thus, we are encouraged to seek refuge from evil eye by reciting the prophetic du‘a stated below everyday.
Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbas رضى الله عنه (may Allah be pleased with him):
“The Prophet ﷺ (may Allah send Blessings and Peace upon him) used to seek refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain and say: ‘Your forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac by reciting the following:

أَعُوْذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَّهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَّامَّةٍ
A’UUDZU BIKALIMAATILLAAHIT TAAMMATI MIN KULLI SYAITAANIN WAHAAMMATIN WAMIN KULLI ‘AININ LAAMMATIN
Meaning:
I seek protection in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous pests, and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.’” [Sahih al-Bukhari (3371)]
