There is not a single unequivocal statement in the entire Bible where Jesus (pbuh) himself says: “I am God” or where he says: “Worship me.” The Bible contains statements attributed to Jesus (pbuh) in which he preached quite the contrary. Consider the following statements in the Bible, attributed to Jesus Christ (pbuh):
“…my Father is greater than I.” (Gospel of John 14:28)
“My Father… is greater than all.” (Gospel of John 10:29)
“I cast out devils by the Spirit of God…” (Gospel of Matthew 12:28)
“…I with the finger of God cast out devils.” (Gospel of Luke 11:20)
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge; and my judgement is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father, which hath sent me.” (Gospel of John 5:30)
Anyone who says, “I seek not my own will, but the will of Almighty God,” he is a Muslim. Jesus (pbuh) is a Muslim. A Muslim is a person who submits to the will of the Only One True God, Allah.
Note that Jesus said, “…the Father, which hath sent me.” If Jesus is God, why would he tell the people that the Father was the one who had sent him?
To answer this question based on the Christian creed, Jesus is the Son of God who was sent by the Father to the Children of Israel (though Christians generally believe his mission was for all humanity, not only the Children of Israel) to die for their sins. He is part of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity means that Jesus, in essence, is not merely part of the Triune God, who is three in one (Father, Son and the Holy Spirit), but that he is also fully God.
Hence, if one reads the Bible, he or she might conclude that the aforementioned verse (John 5:30) alludes to the fact that God had planned or willed in advance to tell the Children of Israel that He (acting as the Son of God) had been sent by Himself (acting as the Father as well) (John 10:36-39) so that they worship and love Him (also acting as the Only One God as mentioned in Deuteronomy 6:4-5).
Muslims, however, do not believe in a God who disguises Himself as three different “actors”. We believe that Jesus is a Messenger of God, Allah. To believe that he (serving as the Messenger of God) was sent by Allah to the Children of Israel is simply more logical than the mainstream Christian doctrine.
