They Propagate the Song “Salah al-Tafrijiyyah” (also known as “Nariyah”), Which Contains Elements of Shirk

They claim that by singing or reciting this salah (sending blessings) daily, one will obtain benefits from its supposed virtues, such as relief from hardship and sorrow, forgiveness of sins, increased blessings and provision from Allah, elevation in rank, prayers being answered more easily, and attaining a position close to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Hereafter. Some even claim that whoever recites this salah a specific number of times will achieve whatever they desire.

In reality, this salah contains expressions that contradict the teachings of Islam, which fall into shirk and go to extremes (ghuluw) with regard to the Prophet ﷺ. It attributes to him actions that cannot be attributed to anyone other than Allah, such as fulfilling people’s needs, relieving distress, fulfilling their wishes, and granting a good end. Allah has commanded His Prophet ﷺ:

“Say: ‘It is not in my power to cause you harm, nor to guide you.’” [The Noble Qur’an, Surah al-Jinn, verse 72:21]

The meaning of this salah clearly contradicts pure Tawheed, because supplications and requests can only be directed to Allah alone, without any intermediary.

As a result of the propagation of this “song mixed with salah” and its practice, many Muslims have deviated from the true teachings brought by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, falling into false beliefs disguised under the name of ṣalāh. Know that this salah is an invention by someone; therefore, it was never taught by Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, nor did he ever promise any of the virtues attributed to it.

The authentic Sunnah regarding salah upon the Prophet ﷺ shows that when we send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ once, Allah sends ten blessings upon us, ten of our sins are erased, and we are raised ten darajaat درجات (ranks) [Sunan an-Nasa‘i (1297)]. I urge you to learn and memorise the collection of authentic salah by downloading the “Dhikr & Dua” application by Life With Allah at the following link: https://understandislamthewayofthesalaf.com/2025/03/25/life-with-allah-dhikr-dua-app/

If we truly love Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then we should follow his teachings by studying his Sunnah and reflecting on Al-Qur’an as much as possible, and then practising them. Every act of worship must be supported by evidence from Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah; otherwise, it should be abandoned. Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ said:

“I have left among you two matters, and you will never go astray so long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah (Al-Qur’an) and As-Sunnah of His Prophet (Muhammad ﷺ).” [Muwatta’ Malik (1661)]

May Allah guide us to hold firmly to Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah, to practise both as much as possible, and to avoid all practices that have no basis in the teachings of Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ. May He protect us from being influenced by the people of bid‘ah that are prevalent in our Ummah. May Allah increase us in beneficial knowledge, grant us enthusiasm in seeking it, and bestow upon us true understanding of the pure teachings of Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ. Aameen.
